What is HOCl?
HOCl is short for hypochlorous acid, a molecule that white blood cells make naturally. In Pethocyn it comes as a water-based solution in a fine-mist spray bottle.

How do I use it?
Move the hair aside, mist the area until it is evenly wet and let it air dry. There is no need to wipe or rinse. Follow the directions on the label.
Why does it smell faintly like a pool?
HOCl belongs to the same chemical family as pool chlorine, so a faint chlorine smell is normal. It fades as the spray dries.
Is Pethocyn bleach?
No. Household bleach is sodium hypochlorite, a different chemical. Pethocyn is hypochlorous acid (HOCl) in water.
When should I see a vet instead?
See your vet for deep or puncture wounds, heavy bleeding, signs of infection, or any skin problem that is not getting better. Pethocyn is for everyday care, not a substitute for veterinary care.
